A biologics purification train (Protein A capture through final concentration) had to be optimized end-to-end rather than one step at a time. We built an end-to-end flowsheet model covering chromatography, ion exchange, viral filtration, and final concentration, solved the filtration trade-off mathematically instead of by rule of thumb, and validated predicted pressure and membrane behavior against measured GMP data before the model informed a single decision.
Impact for the client:
- 60% more mass yield from chromatography optimization
- 20% shorter processing time
- Chromatography alternatives compared on screen before committing to resin and equipment
- A model validated on real GMP data and ready to support the filing
